1973-74 Larry Bird Game Worn Warmup Uniform from Springs Valley High School with School Provenance - The Earliest Bird Gamer. Larry Bird grew up dirt poor in French Lick, Indiana. His mother worked multiple jobs to support Larry and his siblings. The hoopster used basketball as he way out of working a factory when high school was done. Jumper after jumper was taken in hopes of finding his way out of poverty. Bird went to high school at Springs Valley High School, precisely where he wore this shooting uniform. We will start off with the provenance as it is the biggest factor in the success of the item. The LOA (with an address of Larry Bird Blvd.) states: "This Springs Valley High School Warm-up Breakaway Jacket and Pants are from the Larry Bird era. And was infact Worn during Larry Bird's Career, By Larry Bird. This Uniform was sold by The Springs Valley High School Department, Sincerely Larry Pritchett."
Screaming '70's is this ensemble. The top features yellow and black trim and "Hawks" along with a team insignia on front. "Springs Valley" is centered on back in two-tone cursive script. Two labels appear in the collar: "Bush Keller Co. Sporting Goods" and "Powers Mfg. Co." A curled label is administered in the inner side. The pants have a similar tagging structure in the waistline. Bird signed both of the items in 9/10 gold paint pen. There is correspondence between our consignor and Larry Pritchett's son who confirms the team did wear that manufacturer's warmup outfits and that is indeed his father's signature. To the Larry Bird fan who believes he has it all, we present this early-career outfit. Letter of provenance from Springs Valley High School. LOA from Heritage Auctions. Pre-certified by PSA/DNA.
