Clyde the Glide joins a battle of basketball legends

1971 Walt Frazier All-Star Game Worn Uniform, MEARS A10. San Diego Sports Arena played host to one of the most competitive editions of the sport's premier exhibition on January 12, 1971, with NBA all-time leading scorer Lew Alcindor (Kareem Abdul-Jabbar) sinking the final, decisive point in the 108-107 Western Conference victory. Few times in history has a greater assembly of elite talent shared the same hardwood--Chamberlain, Lucas, Robertson, West, Reed, Havlicek, DeBusschere, Monroe among them.

Also bound for Springfield was the man who suited up in this rare and beautiful ensemble, a legendary point guard who anchored the only two NBA Championship teams in New York Knicks history. Frazier went three-for-nine during twenty-six minutes of action, with six rebounds and a team-topping five assists.

The red durene jersey features silver and blue identifiers, announcing "East 10" on the chest and "Frazier 10" on verso. Lower left front tail bears proper "Wilson [size] 44" label with a handwritten "+3" identifier matching the added length. Awesome matching red satin shorts provide a large and sparkling "NBA" logo at right hip and "Wilson [size] 36" interior tagging with handwritten "+1 1/2 Rise" sub-label. A small amount of rubber cement inside the waistband almost surely relates to an earlier framing, and is mentioned only in the interest of full disclosure, invisible and only identified by touch.

Our auction archives show only one other example of this uniform style having sold at auction in the past two decades--John Havlicek's--which commanded over $25,000 in 2013. LOA from MEARS, A10. LOA from Heritage Auctions.
