Description
1971-72 John Roche New York Nets (ABA) Jersey & Rick Barry New York Nets (ABA) Shorts. A two-time All-American guard at South Carolina, Roche was the fourteenth overall pick of the 1971 NBA Draft but opted to sign with the Nets of the ABA. Here is a jersey he wore as a rookie in 1971-72. The road red knit jersey sports sewn-on white/blue tackle twill identifiers, blue/white/red trim om the collar/arm yokes/side panels and Rawlings tagging in the interior back tail. Before Roche wore the jersey, it was worn by Bill Bunting (#15) in 1970-71.Matching trunks were worn by Hall of Famer Rick Barry who averaged 31.5 points, 7.5 rebounds and 4.1 assists that season, leading the Nets to the ABA Finals versus the Indiana Pacers. Interior waistband reveals "Rawlings 36" label, "12" swatch and washing instructions tag with "24" in vintage black ink on athletic tape. Before Barry wore the shorts, they were worn by Bob Arnzen (1969-70) and/or Jim Ard (1970-71). LOA from Heritage Auctions.
