Description
1969-70 Artis Gilmore Jacksonville University Game Worn Warm-Up Jacket. Beautiful and historic white fleece warm-up dates to a season that saw the future ABA superstar lead his Jacksonville University Dolphins to the NCAA Championship Game, and become one of the few college players in history to average at least twenty points and twenty rebounds over a career. Matching this ideal vintage is stunning aesthetics, with a bold green tackle twill stripe down the left chest spelling "Jacksonville" in offsetting white, green collar, cuff and tail trim, and an eye-popping green and white chenille dolphin on verso. Interior button path sports a "Rawlings [size] 46" label with "XL" and washing instructions tags to follow. The number "42" is applied in vintage black marker just above interior tail hem, likely referring to the jersey number of the jacket's previous owner. Condition is spectacular, with no damage of note. Direct attribution to Gilmore comes in the airtight form of a signed letter of provenance from the elite center himself. To the best of our knowledge, this is the only pre-professional Gilmore uniform piece to enter the hobby. LOA from Lou Lampson.Auction Info
