    Description

1950's Nat "Sweetwater" Clifton Game Worn New York Knicks Shooting Shirt. Nat Clifton joined the NBA in 1950 as one of the league's first African American players. The six-foot eight, 225 pound forward played seven years with the New York Knicks and one with the Detroit Pistons, averaging a solid 10 points and 8.2 rebounds a game for his career. Clifton also played for the New York Rens, Harlem Globetrotters, Chicago Majors of the American Basketball League, and Chicago American Giants of Negro League Baseball.

This is a beautiful specimen of his 1950's Knicks uniform. Dark blue durene shooting shirt features "KNICKS" (front) and "SWEETS" (back) both sewn on in orange, plus orange and blue trim on the collar, tail and sleeve cuffs. There is also a wonderful zipper on the front which extends from the collar down to the top of the "KNICKS." Inside is a black "MacGregor 46" tag and white wash tag. LOA from Heritage Auctions.
