1983 North Carolina vs. N.C. State Ticket Stub - Michael Jordan 15 Points, PSA VG-EX 4. Michael Jordan's college career at the University of North Carolina (1981-1984) was the foundation of his legendary basketball legacy. As a freshman, he hit the game-winning shot in the 1982 NCAA Championship against Georgetown, earning national attention. Under coach Dean Smith, Jordan developed into a disciplined, complete player, known for his scoring, defense, and competitive drive. He was a two-time All-American and won the Naismith College Player of the Year award in 1984. Jordan averaged 17.7 points per game over his three seasons and left UNC early for the NBA, having already established himself as a future superstar.
