Description

1962 Philadelphia Warriors Wilt Chamberlain 100-Point Game Program. Despite the enormous scarcity of relics from this Hershey, Pennsylvania contest, every fan on earth knows the event. On March 2, 1962, the seven-foot one inch superstar center for the Philadelphia Warriors became the first (and, to this date, only) man in NBA history to require a third digit on his personal scoring sheet, dropping an even one hundred in a 169-147 victory over the visiting New York Knicks. Just over four thousand fans were on hand to witness this stunning display of offensive production, so the scarcity of surviving programs is little surprise.

We searched our auction archives and this is only the fifth program from that historic night which we have offered in twenty years. Chamberlain is prominently featured on the front of The Wigwam issue issued at the double header. The original owner who attended the game kept a running point total in pencil at the box score centerfold, tallying up Dippy's absurd point totals to conclude with "100."

This sixty-two-year-old relic might be the finest example we've offered, with some wear and light toning at the edges of the covers but none of the heavy creasing or tearing commonly found in period publications.
