Description

Late 1980's Rod Strickland Game Worn Signed Shoes.
James Shorters Pistons Ball Boy Collection

Ball boys are one of the few outsiders allowed in basketball's most inner sanctum. James Shorters served as a ball boy and helped in the capacity of visiting locker room attendant for the Detroit Pistons from 1988-93. He enjoyed a bird's eye view of the Bad Boy teams which won back-to-back NBA titles. The likes of Larry Bird, Isiah Thomas, Scottie Pippen, Joe Dumars and Michael Cooper were just some of the men who the youngster called friend during his association with the organization. Heritage Auctions has the honor of offering some of Shorter's personal treasures, given to him by NBA stars of the 1980's.

Rod Strickland was known as a mercurial point guard but still lasted some 17 years at the highest level. His early days produced these "Reebok [size 12.5]" shoes. Outstanding use is shown as Strickland donned the white leather kicks for an extended period of time. The inner cushions have been removed, a customary procedure among basketball players. The right shoe is signed although it has faded considerably. Letter of provenance from former Pistons ball boy. LOA from Heritage Auctions.
