Late 1980's Robert Parish Game Worn Shoe. James Shorters Pistons Ball Boy Collection

Ball boys are one of the few outsiders allowed in basketball's most inner sanctum. James Shorter served as a ball boy and helped in the capacity of visiting locker room attendant for the Detroit Pistons from 1988-93. He enjoyed a bird's eye view of the Bad Boy teams which won back-to-back NBA titles. The likes of Larry Bird, Isiah Thomas, Scottie Pippen, Joe Dumars and Michael Cooper were just some of the men who the youngster called friend during his association with the organization. Heritage Auctions has the honor of offering some of Shorter's personal treasures, given to him by NBA stars of the 1980's.

Robert Parish was the last line of defense for the Boston Celtics. He thwarted many would-be baskets and altered the outcome of countless contests with his rebounding prowess and inside game.
Parish wore this Avia shoe (right) when he played for the Celtics in the mid '80's. Moderate to heavy use, for NBA standards, is visible on the black leather shoe. Heavy surface degradation is found on the Avia foot cushioning but there is an orthopaedic slip still in-place. Letter of provenance from former Pistons ball boy. LOA from Heritage Auctions.
