Goose Tatum Signed Contract, Original Photographs and More! Autographs

Goose Tatum Signed Contract, Original Photographs and More from the Marques Haynes Collection. A terrific grouping of memorabilia relating to the great Reece "Goose" Tatum. First, there is a contract from 1955 signed by Goose and Marques Haynes, agreeing to an exhibition game for the Harlem Magicians. Also included is a receipt for advance payment, dated 1961, for a performance at Madison Square Garden; it, too, is signed by Goose Tatum and Marques Haynes in pencil. Within this collection are fourteen 8x10" photographs of Goose Tatum in various poses; seven are original images with the others being rarely seen publicity shots. There are several small photographs, as well, including a nice candid shot of Goose. A rare program for "The Goose Tatum Basketball Show," circa 1958, is part of this offering. While it has some light staining and a few small "dings," it is in attractive vg-ex condition. Another interesting addition here is the proof sheet or "ad slick" bearing photographs of Goose and Marques, along with cartoonish (and now politically incorrect) images of a basketball figures in action "vs. The New York Olympians." Finally, something which was representative of Goose, according to Marques, a Western Union telegram from Reece Tatum to Marques Haynes dated June 21, 1957 saying "Please pay my car notes until September." This "mini-archive" provides just a little glimpse into the life of a great athlete and good person. LOA from PSA/DNA.
