    Description

Early James Naismith Photographs Lot of 4 with Handwritten Notation. Intriguing collection of four images begins with two identical postcards, one of which is notated on verso in Naismith's hand, "Chicago 1904, Made with the use of mirrors." The result is a trick image of five Dr. Naismiths sitting together at a table. Each presents as VG-EX from the front, though the unmarked postcard has scrapbook residue on verso. Third is another photo portrait postcard of Naismith, appearing to date from the 1890's, EX. All three postcards measure approximately 3.5x5.25". The last photo is an even earlier image that was cut from a larger class team photo. It may date from his time at McGill University in the 1880's. Approximately 4x4.5". EX. LOA from PSA/DNA.
