Description

Circa 2020 Julius Erving, Larry Bird & Magic Johnson Signed Original Painting by James Fiorentino. With the passing of LeRoy Neiman in 2012, the throne of the greatest living sports artist has seen several aspirants, with James Fiorentino firmly in the running for his stunningly lifelike watercolors that have drawn apt comparisons to the immortal Norman Rockwell. At age fifteen, Fiorentino became the youngest artist to be featured at the Baseball Hall of Fame. His work has appeared in numerous publications and within many of the finest collections in the country.

This masterpiece borrows the cast of characters found on the famous 1980 Topps Scoring Leader card, presenting them in a format that captures these legends of the hardcourt in a way simple photography never could. Fiorentino's deft touch masterfully conveys the glow of sweaty skin under arena lighting, the lean musculature, the expressions of pure determination. Look closely and you'll be mesmerized by the detail, right down to the mesh holes of the long-retired jerseys each Hall of Famer dons.

The visible area of the work is 21x29, with the area above each man filled by large and perfect gold sharpie signatures. Full framed dimensions are 31x38". The artist signs and numbers the work, "Elite 1/1" at lower right. Full LOA from PSA/DNA. Full LOA from Beckett Authentication Services.
