Circa 1940 University of Kansas Jayhawks Basketball Player's Blankets Lot of 2. Offered here is a pair of Kansas Jayhawks blankets that were originally owned by former player and assistant Dick Harp. Each 56x68" piece exhibits solid condition with no major flaws, while one represents the team's 1940 Big 6 Championship, and the other notes Harp as team co-captain. These were given to Harp during his All-American basketball playing days at the University of Kansas. Both were made by O'Shea Knitting Mills (tagging sewn into blankets/banners). This was the predecessor to King O'Shea (who made NFL and NBA basketball jerseys from the 1940's - 60's). The 1940 Jayhawks team will forever be remembered for making it to the NCAA Final Four and were National Champions-runnerups, while losing to 60-42 to Branch McCracken's Indiana Hoosiers in the National Championship game. Letter of provenance from Dick Harp's son, Richard.
