    Description

2019 LeBron James NBA Top Shot (Series 1) Base Set - Dunk #56/1000 When Lebron James opted out of his Cleveland Cavaliers contract and became a free agent in 2018, it was a surprise to very few when he ended up a member of the Los Angeles Lakers. But his first season there was far from a storybook tale. Many expected the Lakers to immediately compete for a title with the King on their side. But those plans were derailed by a season that saw Lebron struggle with coach Luke Walton's haphazard squad before missing enough time with a groin injury that the team slid out of playoff contention, finishing 10th in the West.
Oh, but the following year! This Moment comes from early in that following season and shows a near-35-year-old LBJ on a mission as he gets forehead-high to the rim and throws down a thunderous dunk on the Kings. The Lakers ended up winning this one, getting a 10-2 start to the 2019-20 campaign. And if you haven't heard how the story turns out, Mr. James did indeed fulfill his mission, bringing home a championship trophy to Los Angeles at the end of the year. He even led the league in assists, the only time he did that in his exceptional career.
This offering combines one of the NBA's greatest stars with the newest addition to the collecting community, NBA Top Shot. This one is a digital collectible that allows you to own a low-number example from Top Shot's Series 1 Base Set, one of only 1000 that will ever be in existence. NBA Top Shot has created an innovative product and thriving marketplace that is growing larger each day. No doubt you have already seen it discussed on any major new source as the media, and collectors have taken notice of its meteoric rise. You may even be one of the tens of thousands left out of recent digital pack drops as demand for the NBA NFT far outweighs the offered supply with each release. Heritage was proud to be the first auction house to enter the Top Shot game, with the NFT making its Hobby debut on the auction block as part of our February Winter Platinum Night Auction last month. That Zion Williamson Rookie Debut moment realized $162,000 on February 28, serving notice of Top Shot's value to the Hobby's largest bidding base.
The item itself is entirely virtual, exchanged through a blockchain format similar to Bitcoin, but different in that the traded components are valued according to their specific contents and rarity. Each moment is effective ownership of a particular play from a hardwood hero, with lower serial numbered examples more valuable than those with higher numbers. This Series 1 Base Set Moment is a closed set with no further Moments to be minted.
And even though it's technically a part of the Base Set, this release was limited to a terribly low 1000 count. As the popularity of Top Shot increases the base set Moments will only grow in edition size, with current base set Moments numbering 35,000 plus. Furthering the appeal, this one is a low-numbered example, 56/1000. Being from Top Shot's Series 1 release, this one only stands to gain in value, as it may be the scarcest Base Set release that will exist on the Top Shot platform. What better way to commemorate a highlight dunk?
