    Description

2011 Dallas Mavericks NBA Championship Ring. Named after the television series Maverick which starred James Garner in the lead role, the Dallas Mavericks entered the NBA for the 1980-81 season as the league's twenty-third franchise. After a quarter Century of defeats and disappointments, the team finally made it to the NBA Finals at the conclusion of the 2005-06 season, only to lose to a younger expansion club, the Miami Heat. In 2011, the Mavs finally climbed the mountain, while avenging their 2006 Finals loss, when they defeated the Miami Heat to win their first NBA crown.

While owner Mark Cuban was unable to acquiesce to the original requests of Mavs stars' Dirk Nowitski and Jason Kidd for a championship ring that would cost between $150,000 to $200,000 (because it would violate the NBA's strict salary cap provision), the Dallas owner still brought both guns blazing to the jewelry design table when he commissioned one of the most beautiful NBA rings ever created. Not surprisingly, the ring's undeniable brilliance was reflected by its lofty price tag.

On offer here is the first Dallas Mavericks championship ring ever to reach the auction block; a symbol of the Mavs thirty-one-year struggle and the ultimate keepsake of its magical 2010-11 championship season. Presented to the Mavs former Web/Social Media Manager, Stephen Chavera, the Jostens 10-karat white gold creation is a size 9.5 and embraces over 130 brilliant round-cut diamonds with a total weight of approximately 2.75 carats which were painstakingly set into the ring by hand. Thirty-one of these diamonds surround the Mavs logo to mark the years that the team was in existence. All the diamonds are VS1 F-G color and the ring weighs approximately 56 grams. The top of the rings reads simply "World Champions," while the sides read "Chavera, Staff" and "Dallas Mavericks, The Time Is Now, 2011." The original wood/glass display box and cardboard carton are also included. NRMT.
