Lakers down the Magic for franchise championship number fifteen!

2009 Los Angeles Lakers NBA Championship Ring Presented to Forward Lamar Odom. His doomed romance with one of the Kardashian sisters, and the tabloid maelstrom that surrounded his personal struggles, made Lamar Odom a household name nationwide, but this fourth overall selection in the 1999 NBA Draft had been on the radars of serious basketball fans since he was named Parade Magazine Player of the Year as a senior at St. Thomas Aquinas high school. Undoubtedly the peak of his professional career came during the Los Angeles Lakers' back-to-back NBA Championship seasons of 2009 and 2010, and Heritage Auctions is pleased to present both of Odom's personal rings commemorating these achievements in this Platinum Night auction. Both were pawned and never retrieved by the six-foot ten-inch forward at the depths of his downward spiral.

The Larry O'Brien Championship Trophy appears in miniature on the ring face along with the "Lakers" logo, set against a background of wall-to-wall diamonds. "2009 World Champions" balances at the perimeter in raised text. The left shank features an image of the LA skyline, the year "09" and the regular season record of "65-17." Left shank identifies Odom by name, number and even facially, the first Championship ring we've ever encountered to picture its recipient. The team's regular season record of 65-17 completes the design. The right shank lists the results of each Playoff series, with a roman numeral "XV" keeping count of franchise Championships. The band measures to a size eleven and a half (11.5), and is stamped "JBH-003, 15k" inside. We note that other player rings that have sold likewise have low serial numbers after the "Jason of Beverly Hills" maker's monogram at interior band, assuring this is indeed Odom's one and only original.

The ring presents with only minor signs of wear, and tips the scales at a hefty seventy-five grams (75 g.). It remains housed in its original display case which features a rotating pedestal and spotlight (battery dead). Case exhibits wear. A fascinating piece of basketball and American pop culture history.
