2002 Los Angeles Lakers NBA Championship Ring Presented to Samaki Walker.
Visually stunning prize from the Shaq and Kobe dynasty of the Lakers was presented to power forward Samaki Walker, who came to Los Angeles at the start of the season to replace departing veteran Horace Grant. This is the first 2002 Lakers player ring offered within a major auction. Walker's controversial three-pointer in Game Four of the Western Conference Finals--a shot that counted despite replays showing it had not been released prior to the halftime buzzer--would prove to be the difference in a 100-99 victory and, ultimately, the Lakers' advancement as they'd defeat the Kings in seven to reach the Finals.

The triangle theme of the ring face commemorates this third consecutive trip to the mountain top, with the amethyst at center bordered by the word "Back" on three sides, as in "Back to back to back." Fourteen brilliant cut diamonds adorn the bezel, where raised lettering reads "Lakers World Champions." Sixty-one yellow diamonds are set in the ring face, as are three larger triangular cut diamonds representing each Championship. Walker's surname commands the left shank, and below the design makes note of the team's regular season (58-24) and playoffs (15-4) records. Right shank features team logo, year "2002," and a tribute to Chick Hearn, whose last game at the mike would be the Lakers' 2002 Championship clincher. Interior band is stamped "14K" and measures to a size eleven (11). Weight is sixty-eight grams (68 g.). The ring is housed in its original hinged wood presentation case. Mint.
