Description

2001 Los Angeles Lakers NBA Championship Ring. Allen Iverson's forty-eight points proved the difference in an overtime Game One 76ers upset to start the 2001 NBA Finals, but it was all Los Angeles from then on, with Phil Jackson leading eventual MVP Shaquille O'Neal and fellow future Hall of Famer Kobe Bryant to the Larry O'Brien Trophy in five games. It would prove to be the second of an NBA Championship three-peat in the City of Angels, the thirteenth of sixteen trips to the mountain top for the storied franchise.

Identical in design to those earned and worn by Shaq and Kobe, this ring was presented to a front office staffer. It contains thirty-nine yellow diamonds with the following white diamonds used to fill in the two Larry O'Brien trophies: twenty-two full cut white diamonds pave set in the trophies which equal .27 carats. There are also two .25 carat cut diamonds which represent the basketballs. Two more .15 carat diamonds are showcased on the sides. "World Champions Lakers" surrounds the perimeter. One shank provides the recipient's surname above "15-1 56-26" (playoff record, regular season record) while the opposite side has a Lakers embossed emblem and "Back 2 Back 2001" in a triangular formation. This was in reference to Phil Jackson's triangle offense which he popularized. Inner band is stamped "14K" and measures to a size eleven and a half (11.5). Total weight is forty-eight grams (48 g.). The ring presents in fine condition, in its original hinged cherry wood display case and cardboard packaging. Original appraisal paperwork.
