Description

2001 Los Angeles Lakers NBA Championship Ring (Scout Ronnie Lester). The 2000-01 Los Angeles Lakers were a dominant force, finishing the regular season 56-26 before going 15-1 in the playoffs to secure their second straight NBA title. Led by Shaquille O'Neal and Kobe Bryant, the Lakers showcased elite two-way play under head coach Phil Jackson's triangle offense. O'Neal averaged 28.7 points and 12.7 rebounds in the postseason, while Bryant added 29.4 points per game, elevating his game in key moments. The team's suffocating defense and playoff composure culminated in a 4-1 NBA Finals victory over the 76ers, cementing one of the most dominant playoff runs in league history.

The listed ring was issued to our consignor Ronnie Lester, who won the first NBA Championship ring of his long service to professional basketball as a point guard for the 1984-85 Lakers and then went on to serve in that team's front office, rising from scout to assistant general manager between 1987 and 2011. He'd preside over six NBA Championships during his post-playing service to the City of Angels, and many of the treasures he earned during that fruitful span are on offer in this Platinum Night auction.

Two white diamond-studded Larry O'Brien Trophies celebrate that back-to-back achievement atop a sea of yellow diamonds on the ring face. Two more large white diamonds help break up the raised text circumnavigating the perimeter, reading, "World Champions Lakers." Left shank identifies Lester by surname along with the NBA logo and the regular season (56-26) and outrageous postseason (15-1) records that led the City of Angels to basketball heaven. Right shank features the Lakers logo with "Back 2 Back" and "2001" text.

Interior band is stamped "14K" and measures to a size eight (8). Weight is forty-seven grams (47 g.). Moderate wear evident, but the ring still presents very nicely in its original custom wooden display box and cardboard packaging. Letter of provenance from Ronnie Lester.

Auction Type
Signature Internet Extended Bid: These Auctions are presented via catalog and online. Bidding is taken through our website or via phone. There are two phases of bidding during this type of auction: 1) Normal bidding: Bids are taken up until 10 PM CT the night the auction closes. 2) 30 Minute Ending: On a lot-by-lot basis, starting at 10:00 PM CT, any person who has bid on the lot previously may continue to bid on that lot until there are no more bids for 30 minutes. For example, if you bid on a lot during Normal Bidding, you could participate during Extended Bidding for that lot, but not on lots you did not bid on previously. If a bid was placed at 10:15, the new end time for that lot would become 10:45. If no other bids were placed before 10:45, the lot would close. If you are the high bidder on a lot, changing your bid will not extend the bidding during the 30 Minute Ending phase (only a bid from another bidder will extend bidding). If you are the only bidder at 10 PM, you will automatically win the lot at 10:30. Important: After normal bidding ends, you must be signed-on to the Heritage site to see the bidding option on lots where you qualify for extended bidding and you must be on an individual lot page to reflect the accurate time remaining for that particular lot.
