Description
1996 Michael Jordan Game Worn & Signed Air Jordan XII Sneakers with Player Provenance--Used 11/23 vs. the Jazz (44 Points). The Air Jordan XII sneakers presented here rate among the finest game worn exemplars extant in the hobby as they check off most of the boxes a sneakerhead could ever hope to fill. They were worn by the G.O.A.T. during the 1996-97 season when he led the NBA in scoring with a 29.6 average for a record ninth title, was first team All-NBA and All-Defensive, was named NBA Finals MVP for the fifth time, while capturing his fifth championship.Created by noted designer Tinker Hatfield (who authored Air Jordan III to XV), the Air Jordan XII's are one of the most attractive and coveted sneaker designs ever created. Inspired by the the unlikely combination of the Rising Sun flag of Japan and a 19th century women's dress boot, the sneakers feature a ribbed leather herringbone pattern which mimics sun rays, a heel motif, the first Zoom Air unit, and a carbon fiber shank plate. This model was also the first Air Jordan that did not have a Swoosh or a Nike logo anywhere on the shoe, not even on the insoles.
The shoes feature a white/varsity red/black colorway, which Jordan sported through the season, along with Jumpman logo and and "two 3" written out vertically down the tongues. The heels reveal a second Jumpman logo, "Jordan. Quality Inspired By The Greatest Player Ever," and "23." Interior tagging features Mike's size "13" along with correct coding. Evidence of game wear includes creasing and scuffs to the white leathers uppers. The shoes present marvelously and the condition of the leather is soft and spectacular. MJ has signed the sides of each sneaker in 7.5/10 black sharpie.
The shoes are accompanied by a letter of provenance from former NBA guard, Jay Humphries, a personal friend of MJ who played against him for over a decade, and who obtained them directly from Michael after the November 23, 1996 game between the Bulls and the Jazz when MJ dropped forty-four points with six rebounds and four assists. Letter of provenance from Jay Humphries. LOA from Heritage Auctions. Full LOA from PSA/DNA. Full LOA from Beckett Authentication Services.
