    Description

1990's Michael Jordan Signed High School Team Photograph. While there is no question that Michael Jordan was one of the most gifted athletes ever to wear the uniform of a professional sports franchise, it was the unrelenting will to win that elevated the six-time NBA Champion to the pinnacle of the athletic pantheon. Adversity only fueled his competitive fire, the unstoppable drive to prove his doubters wrong.

This photograph finds a fifteen-year old legend-in-the-making at a critical crossroads on the path to immortality, a setback that provided the early motivation to future achievement. In a story that has become as famous as the one about the record label that turned down the Beatles, Laney (N.C.) High School basketball coach Pop Herring cut Jordan from the varsity team his sophomore year, a humbling experience for the boy who would become the sport's greatest star. This modern 8x10" photographic print finds Jordan kneeling second from right with his JV teammates of the 1978-79 season, a 9/10 blue sharpie signature applied to his youthful frame.

It is almost certain that this is the only autographed example of this photo in existence, assigning it the status of one of the most intriguing Jordan signed items ever to surface in the collecting hobby. Hang it on your wall as a reminder that even the best of us will get knocked down from time to time, but the true test of character is how we respond to that adversity. Photo itself is NRMT-MT. Pre-certified by PSA/DNA. Auction LOA from James Spence Authentication.
