Description
1990-91 Charles Barkley Game Worn & Signed Nike Air Force Sneakers. A rare pair of Barkley gamers from his Philly days, when his basketball powers and athleticism were at their peak. This was the era when Charles was going coast to coast nightly and a perennial MVP candidate. In fact, the season he donned the presented pair, he finished fourth in the MVP tally, after averaging 27.6points, 10.1 boards, 4.2 assist and leading the league in two-point field goal percentage at a unbelievable .614 clip.The offered Nike Air Force sneakers display a white/red/blue color way with red leather Swooshes, "Nike Air" on the heels in red embroidery and "Force" on the tongues. Interior tagging confirms Charles' size ("15.5"), player sample status and production date (December 1990). The size is also stamped on the interior ankle collars. Signs of game use include creasing to the leather uppers and sock pilling on the interior ankle collars. Also, while the pair exhibits some cracking to the midsoles composite, there is no separation and they display very well. Furthermore, each shoe is signed and inscribed "Charles Barkley 34" (left) and "Best Wishes Charles Barkley 34" (right) in vintage black ink (light but clearly legible).
Conservancy: In order to prevent degradation to the midsoles, which is a common occurrence for many sneaker from this era, one of the country's leading sneaker conservation experts applied a clear sealant to the exterior of the midsoles in order to prevent them from degrading or separating from the uppers.
