Description

1988-89 Charles Barkley Game Worn Shoes - From Family of Sandy Grossman. After taking one look at Charles Barkley, many roundball experts listed him as too short and overweight to compete at basketball's highest level. But heart and desire can't be measured as was the case with the Chuckster. One of the NBA's finest power forwards, Barkley wore these "Nike [size] 15" shoes when he dominated with the Philadelphia 76ers on the hardwood. We have found multiple photos on Getty Images from the 1988-89 season (2072928 and 2072940) which show Barkley wearing a similar style of shoe. The sole and bottom portion of each shoe has pulled away noticeably, about half the way. The inside portion of each shows material loss. Sock pilling marks and numerous contact marks vouch for use. Barkley signed the sides of both in fading black marker. Letter of provenance from the son of television director Sandy Grossman. LOA from Heritage Auctions. Full LOA from PSA/DNA. Auction LOA from James Spence Authentication.
