1985-86 Orlando Woolridge Game Worn & Signed Sneakers - First Air Jordan Inspired Sneakers. Any sneaker collector worth his salt will surely have an appreciation for and recognize the importance of the Pony City Wings in sneaker history; the first Air Jordan inspired sneakers. What makes these exemplars even more phenomenal is that they were game worn by a star player who was both a contemporary and teammate of Michael Jordan. Yes, Obocop wore them alongside His Airness at the same time Michael was wearing the mythical Air Jordan I.

Sporting a red/white/black colorway, these amazing kicks feature a vertical black "Pony" logo on the heels, "City Wings" stamped on the ankles, and a "Pony City Wings" label sewn on the outer tongues. Meanwhile, the insides are stamped with "Size 13" and the "850809" date code. Despite the degradation of the interior ankle padding (not visible) and some stickiness caused by the resulting hydrolysis and oxidation, the uppers, midsoles and outersoles are in exemplary condition. Furthermore, each sneaker is signed on the side in vintage faded ballpoint "Orlando Woolridge 'O' Bulls."

The late great Orlando Woolridge executed the first between the legs dunk in Slam Dunk Contest history, a full ten years before J.R. Rider's heralded feat in 1994. More than just a dunk artist, the sixth pick of the 1981 NBA Draft had four seasons where he averaged twenty-plus points per game, including a career high 25.1 in 1990-91. The season he wore these sneakers, he averaged 20.7 points per game. See Getty Images 588185110 and 696608004 (Fleer Rookie Card) for the style-match. LOA from Heritage Auctions. Auction LOA from SGC Authentic. Pre-certified by PSA/DNA.
