1985-86 Charles Barkley Game Worn Philadelphia 76ers Sneakers Used 3/4 vs. the Hawks with Ballboy Provenance--24 Points, 16 Rebounds 6 Assists & 5 Steals. The earliest pair of Charles Barkley game worn sneakers ever offered for public sale, the presented Nike Air Force date from the Hall of Famer's second pro season in Philadelphia, when he teamed with Dr. J and his mentor Moses Malone. These were the the unbridled days of Charles' youth, when his elite basketball skills and athleticism were at their peak. Weighing over 260 pounds, he could go coast-to-coast against the league's speediest guards, stand under the basket and dunk flatfooted off either foot, and was undoubtedly the greatest sub-6-6 rebounder in NBA history.In fact, the season he donned the presented pair of kicks, Barkley came into his own, posting 20.0 points on .572 shooting, 12.8 rebounds and 3.9 assists. For his efforts, the the twenty-three-year old forward was named to his first All-NBA Team and placed sixth in the league MVP voting.
These mid-top sneakers displays white leather uppers, plus fire engine red Swooshes on the sides, "Nike" on the heels and outersoles. Interior stamping confirming "15 1/2" sizing, "85" year coding and "PS [Player Sample] status. Furthermore, they exhibit evidence of solid game wear, including creasing and scuffing to the leather. Also, these rare exemplars are completely original and intact, with no signs of degradation to the midsoles or ankle collars, which is so prevalent on others sneakers from this era.
The sneakers were originally obtained from a former Atlanta Hawks ballboy and he letter of provenance attends. In it he writes:
"...These shoes were given to me in the visitor's locker room by Mr. Barkley, following a 1986 game between the 76ers and the Hawks at the Omni Arena in Atlanta."
During the 1985-86 season, the 7ers only played one game at the Omni in 1986, which was on March 4th. In that game, Barkley posted an unbelievable statline that included twenty-four points, sixteen rebounds six assists and five steals! Letter of provenance from former Atlanta Hawks ballboy.
