Description

1984-85 Michael Jordan Signed Nike Air Jordan Oversized Promo Print, PSA/DNA Gem Mint 10 Auto. Much like the 1951 Bowman Mickey Mantle plays second fiddle to its younger sibling, the 1952 Topps #311, this is a card that is both deeply loved and nonetheless still underappreciated. The earlier date is only part of the argument, and we're well aware that MJ's fabled 1986 Fleer is one of many "rookies" from players well past their first season in the professional game. The true majesty of this card can be spoken in a single word.

Jumpman.

Only Jerry West's NBA logo silhouette is more famous in the sporting realm, and even that statement might be met with some controversy. This is, after all, an ankle-breaking crossover image, extending well beyond the sporting realm to rival McDonald's golden arches as a global marketing symbol due to its connection to the iconic Air Jordan brand this special card introduces.

There's just so much to love here. That colorway on Jordan's feet? That's the black-toe holy grail. And MJ might be a billionaire now, but that's a playground hoop with a chainlink net toward which he is soaring, an inspiring nod to the playground hoops culture where the brand earned its street cred.

But, of course, it's the ultra-rare, period bold black sharpie "To Harry Best Wishes Michael Jordan" that sits above the floating Mike that sets this one apart from the pack. The only only known oversized promo print bearing the autograph of the subject, adorned with a highly coveted, early career signature.
