Description

1981 Basketball Hall of Fame Induction Ring Presented to Hal Greer. He dedicated all fifteen seasons of his professional service to the Syracuse Nationals/Philadelphia 76ers franchise, appearing in ten All-Star Games and playing an instrumental role in the 1967 NBA Championship. He remains the franchise leader for points and games and minutes played, and his jersey number is properly retired in recognition of his elite contributions to the team. He's also a member of the most exclusive club in professional basketball, the Fifty Greatest Players brotherhood selected to mark the Golden Anniversary of the league.

Presented is an earlier entry token to the professional basketball pantheon, the ring issued to Greer for his Springfield induction. Oddly, like the Oscar Robertson ring we sold in February 2021, the "1981" date on the left shank is a year earlier than his "official" induction date, and there are other Basketball Hall of Fame rings that follow this unusual trend--we aren't sure why. Two figural players appear beneath the stamped vintage, while the right identifies the recipient above a logo of the Basketball Hall of Fame. The ring face features a red stone containing a faux diamond and laurel wreath, orbited by the bold text, "Basketball Hall of Fame." Interior band is stamped, "Balfour 10K", measures to a size ten and a half (10.5) and weighs thirty-three grams (33g.). Virtually pristine condition suggests Greer wore this only on special occasions.
