1974-75 John Roche ABA Kentucky Colonels Trophy. The trophy listed here was presented to John Roche, a sharp-shooting guard who played for the ABA's Kentucky Colonels during its championship season of 1974-75. Roche was a two-time All-American and Academic All-American at the University of South Carolina who also holds the distinction of being the only person ever to play in the NBA as a licensed lawyer.

Standing 16.5x6.5x6.5, the award features a gold-colored metal basketball on a square wooden base with an inscription plate that reads "Lums Top Dog Award. John Roche. 1974-75 Kentucky Colonels." The trophy has some scratches and scuffs.

Lum's restaurant in Lexington, Kentucky, which specialized in hot dogs, was owned by the owner of the Kentucky Colonels John Y. Brown. Incidentally, Brown owned Kentucky Fried Chicken at the time, purchasing it directly from Colonel Sanders.
