Description1972 Indiana Pacers ABA Championship Watch. With huge dunks, even bigger afros and distinctive red, white and blue basketballs, the ABA transitioned from a thorn in the side of the relatively staid NBA into its good luck charm, redefining the professional game into something more exciting and more marketable. Several teams were absorbed into the National Basketball Association, while others simply faded away, but the influence of that thrilling hardcourt era lives on, and cultured collectors are rightfully drawn to the few ABA relics that survive to present day.
Presented is one of the toughest targets for those hobbyists, a watch earned by a team staffer or VIP that was awarded after the Pacers' memorable 1972 ABA championship series, in which they defeated the New York Nets in six games. Consisting of stainless steel, the "Caravelle" wrist watch features a vibrant basketball design at the center, while "Indiana Pacers 1972 ABA Champions" is also noted. Watch is in working order, and the face exhibits staining and moderate oxidation.
