A super-rare Championship ring from this flashy rogue league

1970 Indiana Pacers ABA Championship Ring Presented to Ollie Darden. Considered the greatest season in Indiana Pacers history, the 1969-70 campaign earned that designation with a roster comprised of ABA originals Roger Brown, Mel Daniels, Freddie Lewis and Bob Netolicky, plus backcourt assistance from NBA veteran John Barnhill and popular rookie Billy Keller out of Purdue. The team rolled to a fifty-nine and twenty-five regular season record, claiming their second Eastern Division title by a margin of fourteen games over Kentucky. Their 177-135 victory over the Pittsburgh Pipers set an ABA points record.

The surge continued through the playoffs, with a four-game sweep of Carolina, a four to one dismissal of Kentucky and, ultimately, a four games to two ABA Finals victory over the upstart Los Angeles Stars. Brown further his Hall of Fame cause with a dominant Finals, averaging thirty-two points (including unstoppable games of thirty-nine, forty-five and fifty-three points) and ten rebounds.

Presented is the ring presented to Pacers power forward Ollie Darden, only the second 1970 ABA Championship rings (and the first all-original model) to reach the hobby's auction block and it is accompanied with provenance straight from the University of Michigan alum. The size twelve beauty features a genuine large diamond set into a blue stone on the face, encircled by raised text trumpeting, "Pacers 1970 Champions." Left shank is engraved with the date of the Championship clincher, the ABA logo and the words, "Pride, Poise, Perfection." Right shank features the Pacers logo and Darden's name and jersey number. Interior band is stamped "Herff Jones HF 10K" and is engraved with Darden's full name in elegant script. Size twelve. Amazing piece from the first of three championships in franchise history. Letter of provenance from dealer who purchased ring from Darden. Copy of check made payable to Darden.
