Description
1967-68 Bob Verga Houston Mavericks ABA Game Worn Shooting Jacket - Rare Style. The Houston Mavericks were an original American Basketball Association (ABA) team from 1967 to 1969. Struggling with attendance and performance, they never made a significant impact on the league. The franchise was relocated to North Carolina in 1969, becoming the Carolina Cougars, as part of the ABA's shifting landscape.Style and substance were not compromised when this Houston Mavericks ABA jacket was created for the team. Bob Verga, and others, wore the offered button-up masterpiece. The bright yellow jacket has black/white/yellow/white/black piping on the arm end and tail. An image of a chenille-filled maverick is incorporated into an "H" on front while the reverse has "Mavericks" arched in two-color tackle twill. "Rawlings size 42" ("X" in black marker) and an undecipherable tag are in the collar. A washing instructions tag is concealed inside. LOA from Heritage Auctions.
