1963 Pete Maravich Multi-Signed Sophomore High School Yearbook from His Best Friend. We all know him as "Pistol Pete," but back in his early high school days, his best buddies used to call the budding basketball legend "Big P." We get this info first hand, as his closest friend and classmate Ed Coakley consigned to this auction his own 1963 D.W. Daniel High School (Central, SC) yearbook with the handwritten evidence. The entire back page of the yearbook contains this message from the fifteen year old Maravich:

"Nossy, How are you. Keep your distance. You could succeed but I doubt it. Really Ed you do have a great future ahead of you in football and track if you work hard. Your mother and father are just trying to help you. You have to have good grades and by the time your (sic) a senior your grades are going to have to be great. I have never had a closer friend than you (ugh) (Get away). We ought to have great fun at the beach and with Red (to get us) we ought to have great fun. Good luck Ed and when I go to Raleigh I want you to be good. Til tonight (Ha), Big 'P'. P.S. Don't ever forget that name because I'll be up in spotlights."

Unfortunately this page is torn from the book and in four pieces, but it fits together perfectly and could certainly be taped back together effectively or (more advisedly) professionally restored on archival backing. The rest of the yearbook is undamaged with one non-Maravich page exception, and features five more "Big P" autographs: two on the basketball pages, the track team, the tennis team, and his sophomore class photo. All ink is 10/10. A truly special and utterly unique memento of one of basketball's most beloved figures. Letter of provenance from Ed Coakley. Pre-certified by PSA/DNA. Auction LOA from James Spence Authentication.

Just wanted to let you know how pleased I am regarding the sale of my hockey jersey. You were great to work with, you answered all my phone calls and e-mails in a prompt manner, and you did a great job marketing the jersey.
