    Description

    A star is born

1963 Michael Jordan Official Birth Certificate. It is, by its very definition, the earliest piece of Jordan memorabilia that exists, the official "Certificate of Birth" filed with the "Division of Records, Department of Health, Borough of Brooklyn" to document the arrival of an eight pound three ounce boy named "Michael Jeffrey Jordan." The document names "James Jordan," a twenty-five year old delivery man as the father, and "Delores Peoples" as the twenty-one year old mother. The duration of labor is listed on verso, over fourteen hours, but clearly well worth the wait.

Now a decade into his retirement, Jordan has lost none of the luster he enjoyed in his prime, still the landslide victor in any tally of votes for the greatest of all time. But the greatest Jordan collector on Earth? That's still open for debate. The winning bidder for this singular lot will move the needle in his own direction, however. Document measures approximately 7x8", with a rough left edge with a small tear, though these issues cause no significant distraction.
