    Description

1960's Oscar Robertson Game Worn Cincinnati Royals Shooting Jacket - Personal Gift from the Big O. Oscar Robertson basically laid the foundation for the likes of Dr. J and His Airness. A man with no weaknesses on the court, the Big O averaged a triple double during one memorable season which he contributed these nightly numbers - 30.8 points, 12.5 rebounds and 11.4 assists. None of the aforementioned roundball legends came close to duplicating those gaudy statistics in a given season. Gifted from Robertson to a neighborhood kid in Cincinnati is this "Wilson [size] 44" shooting jacket. According to the signed letter of provenance from Ernest Fernanders, a number of the Royals' players participated in games in Cincinnati's West End, near Taft High School. The Big O told Fernanders if he came over to his house in Walnut Hills, he would give him one of his shooting jackets. Fernanders was given this treasure from the man himself. The jacket features royal blue fleece with "Royals" created in single-color blue tackle twill. Red material balances off the white background surrounding the team name. The collar features a period Wilson size tag and undecipherable washed out label. White/blue/white threads run around the neck while a similar collar scheme encircles the sleeve ends and tail. Each of the buttons is fully functional. Letter of provenance from Ernest Fernanders. LOA from Heritage Auctions.
