1936 Flag Presented to James Naismith at Berlin Olympic Games. The sport of basketball achieved global acceptance in the forty-fifth year of its existence as the nations of the world competed on the hardcourt in the 1936 Berlin Olympics. In recognition of basketball's inaugural Summer Games, the German government made a gift of this flag to Dr. Naismith for his role in birthing the sport. While the symbol of the swastika recalls the darkest period of the twentieth century, the importance of the flag as an historical basketball artifact cannot be denied. The flag measures 18x24" in size, and reveals a light touch of staining on one side. The other side presents as NRMT.
