    Description

1920's James Naismith Typed Manuscript with Handwritten Notes re: "Raids on Paris." During the period of 1917-18 that Dr. Naismith spent in Paris, he was unable to convey in his letters home the activities of the war itself. Extreme censorship of communications prevented him from making any meaningful commentary. Apparently written shortly after the war (and typed on the back of "Joint Committee on Basket Ball Rules" letterhead), this is an incisive account of the war, many attacks on Paris and their impact on the citizenry. Several handwritten notations and edits. Four pages, EX. LOA from PSA/DNA.
