    Description

1982-83 University of North Carolina Team Signed Basketball with Early Michael Jordan - Rare Non Cursive "J" & Dean Smith Autograph. When it comes to Michael Jordan autographs, this is as rare as they come. This is one of the few balls that we have seen with the "Non-cursive J," a very atypical style. The last example sold over a decade ago in a major sports auction for a "five-figure" hammer price, demonstrating the significance of early signed Jordan items with rare characteristics such as the "Non-cursive J." Most freshmen are seen and not heard, but Michael Jordan wasn't your average first-year collegiate athlete. Jordan gained his wings in 1982 when he helped Dean Smith claim his first national title. With the ballgame in the balance, Jordan drilled a mid-range jumper which helped the Tarheels cut down the nets. This was basketball was signed by the defending champs of 1982-83. Seventeen members of the team signed this Carolina blue and white rubber ball - which appears to hold air. Autographs average 9/10 and include: Jordan, Hale, Makkonen, Hale, Dean Smith, Daugherty, Martin, Peterson, Braddock, Roy Williams, Bill Guthridge, Eddie Fogler and more. This is one of the most complete team-signed basketballs we have found from that golden era of Tarheel basketball. We have had the luck of selling a few of these treasures but this is one of the rare instances that the coaches also signed on. Full LOA from SGC Authentic.

The hammer price for my Mantle card significantly exceeded my admittedly conservative estimations, and I couldn't be more pleased.
