Description

1976 Pete Maravich 10,000th NBA Career Point Game Used Basketball. Originally sourced directly from the Maravich family, this historic pill was swallowed by an NBA hoop during a New Orleans Jazz game on February 26, 1976 to record Pistol Pete's 10,000th career point as a pro. The Official NBA basketball has been attractively decorated to commemorate Maravich's entry into the Five Figure Club, and the ball remains perfectly spherical and only a little light on air. It is worthy of note that this exact ball is pictured on the page dedicated to Maravich (pg. 81) of the book, The NBA at Fifty (a copy of which is included in this lot). Certainly the most appealing Pistol Pete artifact to surface since our April auction, this milestone sphere will serve as the focal point for all but the most spectacular of private baskeball collections.
