1971-72 Virginia Squires Team Signed ABA Basketball with Rookie Erving. The delightful and distinctive red, white and blue basketballs of the defunct ABA typically bring as much as $2,500 at auction in unsigned condition, so finding a vintage signed specimen is a special treat for the advanced collector. Particularly remarkable about the offered specimen is the appearance of a young rookie out of the University of Massachusetts who would soon come to be known simply as "Dr. J." Erving would help lead the team all the way to the second round of the playoffs with his dazzling, fluid style. Joining Erving on the presented pill are fifteen teammates including Scott, Eakins, Taylor, Sojourner, Johnson and coach Al Bianchi. Signature quality ranges from 3/10 to 9/10, with most (including Erving) closer to the top of that range. A rare keepsake from one of the most exciting times in professional basketball history.
