How many rookie Jordans lurk inside?

1986 Fleer Basketball Wax Box with 36 Unopened Packs as Issued by Fleer! While the 1980's saw a welcome surge in interest in the sports card collecting, this trend resulted in a veritable tsunami of cardboard from the old guard and newcomers alike, creating a supply that drowned even that augmented demand. Today you'll find sets of Donruss, Topps and Upper Deck still in the shrink wrap, and selling for less than the thirty-year old price tag affixed. But there was one noteworthy exception for basketball fans: the 1986 Fleer edition of 132 cards and eleven stickers.

Nearly four decades later it is an issue that stands proudly as the most coveted basketball set of the modern era. Not since the fabled "Tall Boys" of the 1969-70 Topps issue has a basketball issue boasted such a remarkable assembly of rookie talent, highlighted, of course, by the number fifty-seven card (and number eight sticker) dedicated to the iconic Michael Jordan. A short list of esteemed stars and Hall of Famers who appear in this set (many their rookie debut) include Michael Jordan, Charles Barkley, Clyde Drexler, Joe Dumars, Patrick Ewing, Karl Malone, Manute Bol, Wayman Tisdale, Chris Mullin, Hakeem Olajuwon, Isiah Thomas, Dominique Wilkins, James Worthy, Patrick Ewing, Magic Johnson, Julius Erving, Larry Bird and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.

The experts at Baseball Card Exchange have determined that the packs are all 100% original and without tampering, but with minor deviation from an "original box" as issued by Fleer. They state that "only a few packs" of the thirty-six present are inconsistent with factory issue. The sticker collation for this box would be: Jabbar (4), Bird (3), Dantley (3), English (2), Erving (3), Ewing (3), Johnson (2), Jordan (4), Olajuwon (3), Thomas (5) and Wilkins (4). The box presents spectacularly with no more storage wear than one might have expected to find as the box sat upon a retail counter during the Reagan administration. Authenticated & sealed by Baseball Card Exchange (BBCE).
