1969-70 Topps Lew Alcindor (Kareem Abdul-Jabbar) Rookie #25 SGC Mint 9--None Superior! Basketball history came down to the flip of a coin. Lew Alcindor, New York City prep-school icon and UCLA legend had a million dollar offer (over $7,000,000 in today's dollars) to sign as the newest star attraction of the Harlem Globetrotters. That may seem paltry today but this was in 1969 when a million dollars still impressed people. But the future of the three-time NCAA National Player of the Year was decided by the flip of a coin. Heads, the first pick in the 1969 draft would go to the Phoenix Suns. Tails meant the fledgling Milwaukee Bucks franchise would draft the future all-time scorer in the history of professional basketball. It was tails.

Graded SGC Mint 9. One of nine graded Mint with none rated higher. Our offered card is one of the finest examples on record of his rookie card debut from the 1969 Topps series. The set itself is remarkable, as one like it had not been seen for a dozen years. Wonderfully well-preserved, every characteristic resonates with quality. The "tall boy" format so befitting of the 7' 1" legend. With Jordan, people thought he could fly. For Kareem, it was a skyhook that may have started on earth but had a heavenly arch making its mark over 15,000 times.
