Description

1961 Fleer Wilt Chamberlain Rookie #8 SGC NM+ 7.5. They called him "Wilt the Stilt" because he stood an amazing 7' 1" tall and always proved to be a difficult obstacle for opposing players to get around. Wilt Chamberlain was his name and playing a dominating brand of basketball was his game. A standout at the University of Kansas, Chamberlain became a force in the NBA and won a pair of league titles with the Philadelphia Warriors (1967) and the Los Angeles Lakers (1972). A 13-time All-Star, he won seven scoring titles and was named league MVP four different times. Through 14 seasons and more than 1,000 games in the NBA, Wilt averaged 30 points and 23 rebounds per game! His induction into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame took place in 1979.

Presented is Chamberlain's coveted 1961 Fleer rookie card, which provides a portrait-type, black-and-white pic of him sporting his Philadelphia Warriors jersey. This example of card #8 from the historic '61 Fleer series is found in Near Mint+ condition with good color, no surface wear and a clean reverse. It's just slightly off-center, pulling left to right, or else this specimen would have definitely graded higher. Graded SGC NM-MT+ 7.5.
