1961 Fleer Oscar Robertson Rookie #36 PSA Mint 9. It's difficult from a present-day perspective to comprehend the skill and fame that Oscar Robertson had during his playing career. Exhibited is the rookie card of "The Big O," a Hall of Fame player as famous in his day as LeBron James is now. Robertson was selected in the first round of the NBA draft by the Cincinnati Royals. Oscar, also known as "Mr. Triple Double," nearly averaged a triple double in his rookie campaign: 30.5 PPG, 10.1 TRB, and 9.7 AST, and was the NBA Rookie of the Year. The next season Oscar did average a triple double: 30.8 PPG, 12.5 TRB, and -11.4 AST, the first NBA player to do it. After nine seasons at Cincinnati, Robertson joined the Milwaukee Bucks, with rookie center Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, and the two stars led Milwaukee to the 1970-71 NBA championship. At 6'5", Robertson is considered the NBA's first "tall" point guard star. He was a twelve-time All-Star and the 1963-64 MVP.

The 1961 Fleer issue was the first set of NBA cards since the 1957-58 Topps, and thus the set is packed with other rookies: Chamberlain, West, etc. The cards feature a black and white player image upon a colored background. Collectors love the cartoon team logos on the front, such as this Cincinnati Royals one with the face of a "king" imposed on a basketball. Packs originally cost five cents, a penny a card. Condition rarity of this card elevates that value by an estimated six million times. Graded PSA Mint 9. One of twenty-four graded MINT with one graded higher.
