1961 Fleer Al Attles #1 PSA Mint 9 - None Higher. The relationship between Al Attles and the Golden State Warriors started when he was drafted 39th overall in the 1960 draft by the Philadelphia Warriors. His goal at the time was to coach his local junior high school team and actually declined the Warriors but changed his mind and appeared at training camp. He scored 17 points on March 2, 1962 but was only the team's second-highest achiever as Wilt Chamberlain would put up 100 points that historic evening. He would remain with the Warriors as a player and/or coach until 1983 calling Philadelphia, San Francisco and Golden State home. He has the honor of being one of the first African-American coach in the NBA. The Warriors winning the 1975 NBA championship made him the second African American coach to win a title after Bill Russell. He is still holds the longest as coach of the Warriors. He is one of six players in Warriors history to have his number (#16) retired.
Al Attles began Currently, there is no better way to start your 1961 Fleer Basketball set. This is one of a dozen cards to earn a PSA Mint 9 rating with no others grading any higher. This is a strong example with glorious colors and perfect centering.
