1948 Bowman Basketball Uncut Printers Production Panel With Nine Cards. It was the dawn of the modern era of the hobby and leading the charge was Bowman Gum. While famous for their baseball issue they also produced a ground-breaking set of basketball cards as well as a number of non-sports issues. Offered is a fantastic conversation piece. The approx 6-1/6 x 7-1/2" panel features nine basketball cards, all the grey background variation (really just missing the red or blue background color) to card #'s 39, 40, 48, 49, 50, 57, 58 Arnie Risen, 59 plus card #'s 41 and 59 featuring basketball playing tips. The back shows printing from three different issues. One finds the standard 2-color backs of the basketball cards plus the full black plate of the fronts of nine cards from Bowman's '48 "Movie Stars" set and the dark blue from the backs of 1949 "America Salutes the F.B.I." series. An amazing conversation piece and a great addition to the basketball fan of follower of the printing process of the cards we so admire.
