Description

1911 Addie Joss Day "Naps. All Stars" Post Card SGC Fair 1.5. On July 24, 1911, the Cleveland Naps took on the best in the American League in what could be called the first All-Star Game as it would be another twenty-two years before so much Major League talent shared a single diamond. Sadly, the grand exhibition was "Addie Joss Day," a tribute to the HoF pitcher who died just three months prior from meningitis that brought this cast of immortals together. The line up is second only to the mythical gods of Olympus. Cy Young (in his final season), Napoleon Lajoie, Walter Johnson, Bobby Wallace, Frank "Home Run" Baker, Sam Crawford, Tris Speaker, Eddie Collins, Ty Cobb and "Shoeless Joe" Jackson (in his first full season) all wearing their baseball best. Today, there is a painfully small supply known. The back has small areas of loss from being stored in an album for what was certainly the better part of a century. Graded SGC Fair 1.5. Photo quality allows clear identification of players.
