Description
One of the rarest LeBron rookies that exists!
2003 Upper Deck Exquisite Collection LeBron James (Number Pieces
Autographs) #NP-LJ PSA Authentic, Auto 10 - #'d 21/23 - - From The
Yeow Exquisite Hidden Collection. A fifteen-foot fall-away
jumper in the third quarter of a February 7, 2023 contest between
the Los Angeles Lakers and the Oklahoma Thunder gave LeBron James
sole ownership of the all-time NBA career points record, ending
nearly four decades of reign by Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, who was on
hand to celebrate King James' ascension to the throne. Now, every
time this monumental talent scores, a new record is set, slowly
chipping away at the already microscopic odds that LeBron will ever
be unseated. It's difficult to imagine how an eighteen-year old kid was able to carry the weight of outrageous expectation across that massive divide between high school and the National Basketball Association and haul that burden all the way to the pinnacle of the sport. Talent alone couldn't have been enough. Such achievement requires ambition and drive in equal measure.
This inspirational cardboard commemorative ranks among the finest LeBron cards that exist, ticking every box for modern trading card supremacy: rookie status, game used patch inclusive, boldly autographed and limited in edition. This lucky "pull" from the 2003-04 Upper Deck Exquisite Collection issue has a wonderful multi-colored patch showcased inside a die-cut number "23" at obverse, with a flawless signature placed in a vertical configuration at right edge. Silver embossed "21/23" at lower right corner speaks to the tiny edition.
Heritage regulars will recall that another Upper Deck card of the same vintage, components and edition size sold for $885,000 in our November 2022 catalog auction. Graded PSA Authentic Auto 10.
