Description

1986 Fleer Charles Barkley Rookie #7 PSA Gem Mint 10. Has there ever been a basketball player the size of Charles Barkley with his skill set? Standing just 6-4 ½ tall (yes, he was listed at 6-6), Sir Charles played both the small forward and power forward positions, which is unheard of in the modern game. Still, he managed to post up and outrebound much taller opponents with brute strength and unnatural leaping ability. He even holds the distinction of being the shortest man to ever lead the NBA in rebounding. Despite playing between 252 and 285 pounds, he would routinely go coast-to-coast, using his deadly combination of speed and ball handling ability to fly by the quickest players in the league. A legendary leaper, his first pro coach tells a story of how Charles came to training camp overweight at 302 pounds, yet he was still able to stand directly under the basket and dunk, flat-footed, off either foot.

Michael Jordan's 1986 Fleer rookie card gets all of the glory, but he wasn't the only star making his official card debut. With sharp corners, nice centering and fresh gloss, this is an exceptional example of Sir Charles' rookie card. Graded PSA Gem Mint 10.
