    Description

Very Rare 1908 PC770 American League Publishing Company Detroit Tigers Postcard - Uncatalogued. Led by "The Georgia Peach," Ty Cobb, and slugger Sam Crawford, the 1907 Detroit Tigers paced the American League. Cobb and Crawford, as well as manager, Hughie Jennings, would go on to be enshrined at Cooperstown. That great team was featured on a postcard, one of a series, published by the American League Publishing Company of Cleveland in 1908. Nineteen members of the team are depicted in a composite photo. Cobb is pictured as a third-year player; this postcard predates his recognized "rookie cards" from the T206 set by a year. The postcard exhibits some paper loss at the corners, as well as some chipping along the edges, and one small tear at one corner. It is unused as mail correspondence. We have no qualm about calling it Fair condition but heavy edge wear will probably result in an err on the side of caution "Authentic" from a grading service. This is a key card from a very popular set and one that was uncatalogued as of the latest version of the SCD guide.
