Description

Circa 1946 Jackie Robinson & Honus Wagner Original Photograph, PSA/DNA Type 1. Jackie Robinson broke barriers when he opened the 1947 season at second base for the Brooklyn Dodgers. The first African American was rostered on a Major League field and the game was forever changed. In 1946, Robinson played in the minors in Montreal before joining the bigs the following year. This 8x10" photo shows Robinson and fellow legend Honus Wagner exchanging pleasantries before an exhibition game in 1946.

It was common for teams to barnstorm following the season, and this photo was snapped before a contest at Forbes Field. We will provide a link on-line to a story which ran in the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette which mentions the tour which was featured on the PBS show History Detectives. The lower edges show some wear and there is a Ted Moss service stamp embossed on front. Most of the handling wear is concentrated to the right side. The reverse has production notes, a PSA/DNA sticker and "Jackie Robinson meets Honus Wagner at Forbes Field, Oct. 1946" typed. LOA from PSA/DNA, Type 1.
